A Good Laugh-Arrgh Matey

Will's bedtime routine consists of bathtime, brush teeth, playing with Walker (usually jumping on or from the beds with a cape made out of hooded towels), books, prayers and then we tell him goodnight and leave the room so he goes to sleep on his own (unless we're feeling really sweet or tired and lay down with him). I went in to check on him last night and this is what I saw. I had to hold my mouth so I wouldn't laugh out loud. We had been to a pirate birthday party that afternoon and I guess he felt the need to go to sleep as a pirate. I wonder what he was thinking as he was going to sleep. He gets really hot when he sleeps and he wants to be like daddy sometimes so he sleeps with his shirt off. ;) I just love how my boys want to be like their daddy.

After the boys were in bed, Len looked out the window and saw three deer in our backyard. We've seen them before, but for some reason I'm always in awe that there are deer behind our house. We don't live in the country and there is a small section of woods behind our house so I'm not sure if they live in there or just come over sometimes. I tried taking a picture through the window so that's why it's blurry, but there were three and they stared up at me everytime the flash went off.

First Spend the Night Party and the Flood

My poor friend Heather was one of the not so fortunate who was affected by the Nashville Flood of 2010. They were out of town and Matthew came home to find that their basement was under 7 feet of water. Their basement was used as an attic of sorts and everything was stored down there from wedding gifts, memorabilia, children's toys and tubs of clothes, a fridge, hot water heater and all of the wiring to their power, heat and air. Everything was completely submerged and it took tons of work to get everything cleaned. They lost priceless memory books and pictures. We wanted to do our part to help, yet it's hard to do physical labor when you have small kids. We had our first friend sleepover and had SO much fun. These are the only pictures I took, but the boys got along great and had a fun time. I will say that I don't know how people with multiples do it ALL. Whew, I was exhausted and they were only here for around 20 hours. Heather is one of my best friends, who would do ANYTHING for me and knows my deep dark secrets and still loves me through the good and bad. It's so comforting to have a friend like that. The type of friend who cares about you and your family, would keep your kids in a heartbeat without complaining, and is loyal. It's hard to find and keep a friend like that and I'm so thankful for her, so I wanted to help her out. If you think about it, please say a little prayer for Heather and Matthew. They have been through a stressful year and she always has such a positive outlook on life. She has a broken back and you would never even know it! She is the one with the etsy shop and her clothes are SO cute. It would help her out so much if you could support her shop. She can make anything you have in mind and is currently making a cute outfit for Will's 5th birthday and a coordinating one for Will and Walker for the 4th of July. Do you have a Heather in your life?? I'm glad I do :-)

How Can You not Love a Little Boy Like This??

He WEARS me out I tell ya! In the past two weeks, this boy has tried to show me who is boss! Guess what, I finally won!!!!!!!!!! He is ON THE GO~all. day. long.......If you want to know where I've been the last two weeks, why I've forgotten parties and doctors appointments and why I haven't answered your phone calls or forgotten to call you back then keep on reading. :-) To top all of that off, Will had a high fever from Tuesday to Sunday, a maybe diagnosis of strep throat, wouldn't eat anything for four days and was actually very loving and snuggly which I love, but holding Will all day gives Walker lots of time to get into all kinds of mischief. I know it's alot to read and kudos to you if you get through it all, but can a mom get a little sympathy around here??? :-) Do you have a Walker in your household? What do you do? Do they grow out of it??

In the past two weeks, Walker has fallen off Will's dresser and slammed his head on an iron bead, dumped out all of Dorothy's fish food while trying to feed her by climbing up on a laundry basket to get to her, dumped out an entire bottle of water on my carpet (but this is an almost daily occurence and I don't just hand him the water, he finds it), pushed a chair on his big toe (big bruise under the toenail), pushed a chair up to the toaster oven and put a paci in it, turned it on and baked it a little, dumped out my make-up while I was in the shower, climbed out of his crib after many rigged up childproof gates, figured out how to dispose of a childproof door locker, figured out how to unlock his bedroom door, got a new big boy bed~only to climb out of it at least 15 times during bedtime for FIVE NIGHTS IN A ROW, gone to bed at 9:30 every night as opposed to his normal 7 o'clock bedtime, woken up at 6 a.m. as opposed to 7, pee peed in the potty~YEAH!, loves telling me "NO WAY" or "I don't want to" when I ask him to do something or not to do something, or "cause" when I ask him WHY he did what he did, gotten a sack of flour out of the pantry and dumped it on his train table (much to his delight) so that he could have something to race his cars through, repeated the same thing with a bag of sugar two days later, had a fever, and to top it all off~dropped a brick on his toe tonight and it was gruesome. I don't do blood very well (and there was LOTS of it) and his toenail is just hanging on. He hardly even cried, well just a little, but I would have cried a lot more! I'm sure I'm missing a ton of other things this boy has done to keep me on my toes. I feel very victorious tonight because I/WE have finally won the bedtime battle. I took apart his doorknob today and reversed it so he can't get out. He now knows that I. HAVE. WON!!!!!!!!! I know I shouldn't brag yet, because I'm sure he's already thinking of his next move. And where might you ask am I when all of this is happening?? Usually, just switching over the laundry, or making up a bed, or something for a split second. But I love this boy with all my heart and I wouldn't trade him for any other child on this earth!!!

Walker, You have rocked our world, but you make us laugh more than we ever thought we possibly could, you surprise us when we don't think there can be anymore surprises, and your sweet little heart brings tears to our eyes.

Walker's Birthday Playdate

This will be the last of the birthday posts from Walker's 2nd birthday. We are moving on~next two goals for the summer~getting rid of the paci and potty training! I'm not looking forward to either, but they must be done! Walker had his 2 year check up yesterday and we read our book "Corduroy goes to the Doctor" to prepare him. He did great! He didn't have to have shots and that was the main thing I was worried about. Hurray for no more shots until his 4 or 5 year well visit. He weighed in at 31 lbs 3 oz. and was 36 inches tall. He was in the 89 % (I think) for both categories. Big Boy!! I checked back to see what Will's stats were for 2 and they are almost identical. Will weighed 31 lbs even and was 35 1/2 inches tall, so Walker is actually bigger than Will was, but not by much.

We had a few of Walker's friends (his age) from church plus two of his favorite older friends, "Drewie and Wibby" and their siblings over for a picnic and cupcake playdate. The weather was beautiful and we had lots of fun! I still can't believe my baby is 2!!!!!!

Just a swinging.

The 2 year olds (Colton, Cash, Walker and Drew) eating their picnic lunch. Here is the post of Will's 2nd birthday sitting at the same table with these little boys' older brothers.

Walker's buddies from church, Colton, Cash and Drew. I have the same picture of Will and the older brothers (Brooks and Jackson) of these kids at the same table from Will's 2nd Birthday.

I never get any pictures of the moms so I got Will to take a picture of us. We had a picnic outside and Will was so cute taking the pictures. After he was done, he said, "That was a really good one."

Big brothers Jackson, Will and Brooks.

Walker eating his cupake or I should say cupcakes. He knew mommy was busy and kept sneaking the cupcakes. I think he ended up eating 3!!! by the time it was over. Never a dull moment with this two year old.

Walker's Birthday~continued

You might be wondering why his birthday balloon says Happy 1st Birthday. That was the second balloon I bought that day. He loves balloons so I wanted him to have one on his birthday. Will was playing with it and somehow popped it. I had to run to the store to get a few things I forgot and wanted to get W a new balloon. This was the only one they had and I didn't have the patience to wait for a new one so Elmo's first birthday it was! That one popped too. It just wasn't meant to be to keep that balloon.

He was so excited about his cake and candles. He kept giggling and had the biggest grin on his face. It was so sweet watching him try to blow out the candles. He couldn't do it and asked Will to help. Will was dying to blow those candles out and I'm glad Walker wanted his help.

Yummy strawberry cupcake!

He was NOT happy about having to stop eating his cupcake to take a picture with Will. You may or may not have noticed that Will seems to have on this superman shirt or his batman shirt in every. single. picture. I wash them about 3 times a week and that is all he wants to wear. He is very into the superhero stuff right now and it's just a battle that I don't choose to fight so that is why he's wearing it in almost every post.

More present opening.

Some more shots of Walker opening his presents. He was so funny and so were his reactions. He didn't get much~just some matchbox cars, a Mr. Potato Head and some other small things, but his reactions said it all. He would run up to me and say "wook, wook" and hold up his gift.
